2 to Go

May 7, 2016

Down to my final two shows of Five Fun Facts about Finland here in Auckland. It’s been a great time and have had some lovely audiences along too. Tonight’s show Saturday 7th May is on at 7pm and tomorrow Sunday 8th May we have an earlier show at 6pm.

Been a blast to watch other great acts while I’m up here, Tim Batt, Guy Williams, Wilson Dixon, Aunty Donna, Paul Douglas and a few more.

I’ll be back to Wellington on Monday and plan to have a few beers and watch the third week. A big thanks to the crew at Montecristo for hosting me, Brendon Green, Tim Batt, Jesse Griffin, Debs McSmith, Alyce Stampa, Jess on front of house and the techs too.

Hey, it’s my birthday today! A timely reminder that I’m in this year’s NZ International Comedy Festival with my show Five Fun Facts about Finland. I can absolutely guarantee that there will be five facts about Finland in the show. Tickets are available here for Wellington and for Auckland.

2015

December 19, 2015

Exhausting year, a lot of fun, a lot of challenges, a lot of new opportunities. Last Christmas gig at VKs last night. Taking a break, then have a few projects to sort out for 2016, plus publicity already out for Raw Comedy Quest.

Will do my best to keep this a little more updated from now on.

Merry Christmas.

Same Same Different one night only

July 27, 2015

Am bringing back Same Same Different, my show from Edinburgh Fringe for a one off Friday night at VKs, 28th August. Has been a while since I’ve run through it, looking forward to doing it again. It’s a softer style of stand up than what I’ve been doing lately, more storytelling, a friendly show!

Our first Live Laughs gig out in Eastbourne sold out in under a week. It’s a heavy hitting line up with Dai Henwood and Vaughan King MCing. Our next one is booked for 18 November, we’ve got a special headliner coming down, will announce shortly.

Wellington comedy

June 26, 2015

It has been a busy run lately. Finished the Third Pint at Kitty O’Shea’s for the NZ Comedy Festival and was then straight into promotion for our fundraising show Lovin’ Laughter at Little Theatre in Lower Hutt for Mila and her family. With Michele A’Court headlining and Vaughan King as MC, we performed to over 150 people including Hutt mayor Ray Wallace, former mayor John Terris, and MP for Hutt South Trevor Mallard. But most importantly we helped raise an extra few thousand towards Mila’s medical bills, it was a privilege to be involved in what has been an incredible show of community support.

This month there have been a few fun shows at VKs, crowd work spot at the Wednesday Medicine shows is always a real roller-coaster of a gig, thanks to Rob Harris and Nik Bruce-Smith for letting me perform. Then last night we had a sold out fundraiser for the Bandolier Marching team, a raucous bunch but great fun.

A gig I’m looking forward to is Thursday 2nd July with Beth Stelling at Fringe Bar. She’s a very talented US act, and is in the middle of an international tour.

Nelson Fringe Festival

May 10, 2015

A big ups to the Body in Space crew who put on the first Nelson Fringe Festival last week. They invited my show Same Same Different to take part and I played the Refinery stage on Saturday night to a sold out crowd. Was a really fun and well put together event from the airport pick up to the stage and lighting crew to the pancake breakfast on the Sunday. Congrats to Dan Lisa and the team.

A thanks too to the Arts Council Nelson who providing funding for my flights and were a big support for the festival as a whole.

Also to the Little India restaurant Nelson who were my show sponsor!

I look forward to seeing what they dream up for the festival in 2016, what a great base to build from.

The Third Pint

Hey so here’s my Comedy Festival show, opening Thursday 12 May, some of my favourite stories from Same Same Different plus some new stuff. Looking forward to seeing some of you there.

Been at bit crook past few days but made it to First Laughs at the Opera House to witness a stand out set by James Nokise, one of the best gala performances ever.

Also saw Daniel Kitson’s Polyphony on Sunday night with about 40 other people. He sold out his entire Ed Fringe Festival run weeks in advance last year, so if you’re in Wellington and you missed this, well stink. 20 Ipod speakers handed out with prerecorded voices that Daniel interacted with throughout the performance, very unique experience!
